What your link does not mention is that there were human slaves who were
below the plebs with no right´s...

BTW, since having or not virtual personality is a human right, it applies
-legally (your rights)-  just for humans, but non-humans(1) will have also
virtual personality (or may be the right term is virtual representation...?)
but without human rights....   (they will not have the right to define their
presence(2), content and projection).

(1) Things (Items, Androids, any phisical property, etc) , juridical
entities (Corporations, Foundations, Chambers, Associations, Nature (there
is a legal philosophical group arguing that Nature should have a juridical
representation), others (robots with organic components, etc).
