online compliacne checker is not the same thing as a reference implementation.
After 10 readings of OpenID Auth, I still had not comprehended that a consumer should normalize a value received from the HTML page in the delegation flow. One look at the Perl code hinted that I should.

I haven't really figured out how such an online OpenID tester should work.
Most likely such a tool would run against the OP with all possible request options and attributes and check the result returned by the server. Similar - so to a lesser extend - can the RP be run against a well implemented test server.
