One of the phenomena I sense in these discussions is
intertwining (and possible confusion) of two notions:
(1) using OpenID as a mechanism to hook up with sundry
"trust" services, and (2) the trustworthiness of the
OpenID "hooking up" mechanisms themselves (e.g. the
protocols).

I wonder what can be done or said to make the
separation clearer.  I'm sorry I don't have any
good answers to that, but maybe at least identifying
it might help.
