[OpenID] Distributed social networking with OpenID

Hi Evan,

We've been doing this for a while now. Please visit
http://tom.calthrop.info - the gallery of avatars on the home page are
people that have connected with me. This is an identity page and if I
connect to you then I have "linked to you". If you then return to my
site and connect you then "link" to me and thus a stronger tie is
formed. All of this is decentralized (OpenID to OpenID with xml friends
file).

If you go to http://www.barnraiser.org you will see a collaborative
website with a gallery avatar. Here people connect to the site and form
a social network around a shared interest - same principle, but without
XML file to broadcast friends.

All software involved is free software (GPL 3) - AROUNDMe personal
identity was used for my site and AROUNDMe collaboration server used for
the collaborative website. All available from http://www.barnraiser.org

We've not published a paper on it because I think long term a better way
to go is to use OAuth (which gives us privacy). Several months ago I put
out a request on list to form a "team" to write the paper, but alas, my
call fell silent ears.

Second call - would anyone like to join me in writing an OpenID / OAuth
decentralized social networking specification ?

Tom
