[OpenID] Captcha Image

I've just setup a new test site with openid and things have gone well
*except* with the captcha image.  I'm running  on Fedora core 6 with a
frozen branch of rails (1.6.0).  The captcha PNG file appears but the
letters inside the PNG image don't appear.  Very strange.  I've searched
the archives and only found something related to debian and captcha.  Is
there a specific font library that I need?  My guess is that it has
something to do with the Imagemagick config.  Any help would be much
appreciated.
