LiveJournal, OpenID and Yadis

The world needs yet another weblogging system, right? Whether or not
it does, I've got some ideas for personal content management that
aren't being implemented anywhere else that I can see, and I've got a
large code base in the Flutterby CMS to build on, so I'm writing some
code to manage a journal in ways that I haven't seen journals managed
yet.

And, of course, I need identities.

No problem, sez I, I'll whip up some Perl with Net::OpenID::Consumer
and let people use their logins from elsewhere. Life is good.

Hey, sez I, adding Yadis to this whole mess would be awesomely cool.
Now I know that LJ doesn't really support Yadis, but they do put up
something that looks a lot like a Yadis document in the
"x-yadis-location" in a meta http-equiv tag, so I'll go get that, look
for the entry which has as its type "http://openid.net/signon/1.0" and
pass that puppy to Net::OpenID::Consumer's "claimed_identity" method!

No joy. ...->claimed_identity is returning undef.

I'll carry on using VeriSign's Yadis/OpenID implementation and see
where that leads, but does anyone know what LJ's plans are concerning
Yadis and future OpenID work?

Dan
