This user diagram shows that, depending on the login-method, a different
window with profiles
will show up. As the user access her Personal Internet Portal (PIP)
using her OpenID username and password,
she will get a window with just the P1 Profil, allowing her to use the
A1 applications, in this example a browser.
(yes, this means a browser in a browser)
As the user uses her i-name credentials, which are verified against her
email address, she sees a window
with the P1 and P2 profiles, she can then chose what applications to
start. As she decides not only to identify herself but to authenticate,
she will see a window with P1, P2, P3, and P4, and she can chose her profil
and access the applications belonging to this profil.
For the technical part, the PIP is not only the starting point of our
user, ( no PC needed anymore)
but also her personal identity store, and a OpenID server. So an
authentication will be made at her personal identity store, usually a
directory. In theory you could use a OpenID server for a authentication,
as what is needed is just a place to store a bunch of numbers. However,
as the user will administrate her own identity store at her PIP, a ldap
directory with a user friendly interface is the first choice. To be able
to connect to databases using other kinds of identification or
protocols, a sxip appliance is very attractive.
I will post a technical diagram later.
