Or other services, there's nothing in Yadis that per se has anything
to do with identity. You could, for example, use it to say "this URL
accepts Mastercard", or "here is the list of mirror servers for the
same content" or whatever using Yadis.

Actually LID is a number of them, like for authenticated message
sending, authenticated message receiving, traversals and selections,
signing using public key crypto, format negotiation, vCard, FOAF, ...
and there will be more.
Jan Rain's SREG is another.
The i-names contact service is another.
One could even advertise things like "this URL understands blog
commenting API X" instead of hacking it into HTML HEAD as everybody
seems to be doing these days.
