Yeah. I got it working by:

1. Forcing an openid login link on to the top bar with this hack:

2. Hacking Consumer.php to force a URL that includes the explicit path  
to my ".../index.php?title=Special:OpenIDFinish" (because for some  
reason I wasn't able to get Lighty's URL rewriting to do the right  
thing when it got back the ".../Special:OpenIDFinish?..." URL).

But I really prefer the JanRain user experience, and I now need to  
learn enough about MediaWiki to figure out how to put the OpenID login  
link so that it doesn't show up when the user's logged in, and so that  
it's the more prominent way to login.
