Well, the gist of this email is that there is not an outcome on the logo yet
... :-)
The voting for the logo went as follows:
Option A: 3
Option B: 6
Option C: -6
No logo change: 3
Its clear, Option C is not popular. That said, of the 500 people on the
OpenID list, these were all of the votes that we got. If we go based on
these votes, we'll run with Option B.
Many of us were in California last week for the Internet Identity Workshop
and we had lots of discussions on what to do about the logo. The consensus
was that changing the logo is critical to adoption of v2.0. Much has
changed with this platform (its more than just i-names with more is on the
way) and we need to convey that in a clear way or we risk confusion in the
marketplace with OpenID not working correctly across the board.
The options we floated to the list didn't really get anybody excited. We
need to find something better.
During the discussions last week, Mike Osburn and Chris Messina volunteered
to help lead an effort to engage the OpenID community to develop a new logo.
They'll be following up to this list in the next couple of weeks on a plan
of action to make that happen and hopefully we'll be able to create a little
incentive for folks to want to participate ... :-) More on that later.
