Not sure I would look at some of those comments as myths. It
looks more like concern over if using OpenID is secure enough
to protect their passwords and privacy. This is touched on a bit
on openid.net. If there's something on the wiki about this it
should be on the entry page in nice simple language.

I'd like to see mention of how easy it is to get a WordPress
site plugged into OpenID. There will be quite a few people
following the links on Slashdot and I don't think the word is
really out about the plugin for WordPress. Filling the boat with
a bunch of small fish can hold you over until that monster takes
the bait.
