Hi, Everyone - I briefly introduced myself in the 5/16 group meeting. For
those who don't know me, I'm passionate about IAM and Identity Management
tools, especially in publishing and library science. I've previously
contributed to the IDPF EPUB Working Group and worked with ebook technology
since Eve Maler introduced it to me. Recently, I moved back to New York
after caring for my Dad during his battle with cancer. After his passing, I
discovered a life insurance policy I wasn't aware of, which included a
subscription to Empathy.com. This service provides a checklist to help
loved ones manage a deceased person's estate, including digital accounts.
While I had already handled most of my father's digital accounts, I
realized that turning over "power of attorney" to a service like
Empathy.com could simplify things significantly. The digital identity
landscape remains complex, but companies are emerging to assist families in
navigating these challenges. I'd love to discuss this further and can
create a GitHub issue if others are interested in researching these
services. I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment and can kick off
the research effort while I look for my next gig. Please share your
thoughts! Thank you!
