IIRC, the library leaves HTTP parsing to the the callee. It's not
immediately clear to me why there would be a POST vs GET issue,
although I'll admit that I've not looked at the patch in its full
context.
As for getting any patches applied, it's unfortunately unclear if
anyone, if at all, is still currently actively maintaining it. I've
personally been mulling over forking the project and getting it ported
to py3k for years, but lack the time (and appropriate material
motivation) to do so.
