Hi all,
On the call last week (on 8/28/2025) this group reflected on the role of
this community group in regards and respect to the role of working groups
like OAuth, open source community groups like the one for Model Context
Protocol, and other organizations' works like those of W3C, or NIST.

The co-chairs would like to make an official statement regarding this. The
purpose of the AIIM CG, as mentioned in the charter, includes “Offer[ing] a
safe space to review and mature consensus on the use cases, architectures,
and deployment models”. We would like to recognize that we have made
efforts to ensure proper intellectual property rules, regular meeting
cadence, and the “note well” and “note really well” policies to facilitate
productive discussions.

As such, we would like to continue to encourage discussion on any standards
proposals, regardless of where they have been proposed. That said, the
co-chairs recognize that the AIIM CG is not a “Standards Development
Organization” (SDO), and as a result, any discussion within the AIIM CG
will have to be referred back to wherever the standard is being proposed in
order to have impact. This could be in the form of interested individuals
taking the learnings from the AIIM CG discussions back to the appropriate
SDO, or, where required, the AIIM CG putting out an official position that
is appropriately communicated to the SDO.

We welcome such discussions, and ask participants not to discourage
discussions during the meetings, unless you see particular IP conflicts, or
where it otherwise conflicts with the “Note Well” and “Note Really Well”
statements. We generally publish the agenda in advance of the meetings, so
if need be, you can raise any concerns in advance of the meeting.

Thank you,
Atul, Jeff, and Tobin
