The XRI Technical Committee at OASIS, many of whose members have been
involved in OpenID, is pleased to *finally* declare XRI Resolution 2.0
Committee Draft 02 final. Below is the public review announcement with links
to the spec in HTML, PDF, and Word formats.

This means the spec is now referencable by OpenID Authentication 2.0 and any
other OpenID specs that need it. I will work with David and the editors to
help update references (the URIs in the message below are all
authoritative).

As some members of this list know, XRI Resolution 2.0 contains a number of
features and enhancements that grew directly from requirements of OpenID
2.0. In particular:

* Yadis 1.0 has been incorporated as Section 6 of XRI Resolution 2.0
("Discovering XRDS Documents from HTTP(S) URIs")
* CanonicalID verification is now very tightly specified for both HTTP(S)
URIs and XRIs.
* Two new synonym elements - EquivID and CanonicalEquivID - cover use cases
where XRDS users want to assert equivalence of identity across distributed
XRDS documents.
* There are two enhanced features (Redirect and Ref) for distributed XRDS
document management that may prove useful to OpenID users and OPs.

XRI TC members and implementers will hold an open space session specifically
for OpenID implementers at Internet Identity Workshop.

And please do send us any feedback -- via this list or via the comment form
at OASIS.
