Subject: [board-private] OIDF ED Update: A pre-IIW Monday, October 17th OpenID workshop

The OpenID Foundation will sponsor a pre-IIW, Monday, October 17th workshop for OpenID Connect specification and code developers. This is not a full on "Summit."
The Executive Committee decided to conserve cash and preserve our positive technical momentum and focus only on OpenID Connect and Account Chooser.

Aol will be hosting the OpenID workshop from 1:30 to 5 pm at its studios at 395 Page Mill, Palo Alto, CA. http://abduzeedo.com/aol-offices-palo-alto-studio-oa
Thanks in advance to George Fletcher and Aol for making this possible. We expect about 25 people and related discussions to occur at IIW.

Ideally, all attendees will have signed IPR contribution agreements. We do expect attendees who haven't signed a formal Contribution agreement with the OpenID Foundation. We will not require attendees to do so, but it is important to be explicit about IP expectations. We will advise attendees of the understandings and agreements associated with participation in OpenID working group meetings. As at the recent Summit, I will advise Work Group Meeting Attendees:

....Participants aren't required to provide feedback. If participants provide feedback, they (on behalf of themselves and any organization they represent) are deemed to agree that:--Feedback license ---- they give OIDF the right to use feedback and comments. They grant to OpenID Foundation a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license, with the right to directly and indirectly sublicense, to use, copy, license, publish, and distribute and exploit the Feedback in any way, and to prepare derivative works that are based on or incorporate all or part of the Feedback for the purpose of developing and promoting OpenID Foundation specifications and enabling the implementation of the same. Also, by giving Feedback, they warrant that they have rights to provide this Feedback. Please note that feedback is not treated as confidential and that OpenID Foundation is not required to incorporate feedback into any version of an OIDF specification.

We are still finalizing the workshop agenda and coordinating final details. I will send a note to the full list soon.
The OpenID Foundation EC will have a dinner meeting shortly after the workshop. All board members are invited. We have a full F2F board meeting on thursday afternoon at the end of IIW.
