[OpenID - Eu] Status of the OpenID Foundation Europe

Hello!
I was appointed as the representative of OpenID in Germany; I had been
asked at that time. In 2007 and 2008 I was evangelizing OpenID at
various tech events in Germany but even I have to admit having
"disappeared from the stage" in the last year. The reason for that is
that I have joined a startup company which
a) doesn't give me a lot of time for anything else and
b) this company is Silicon-Valley-based and has a development site in
India, so I'm not spending much time in Germany or Europe anyway these
days.

I have to agree with Martin Paljak where he said that mainly the
OpenID Foundation Membership is something to show off but most
activities what people have done could have been executed without that
designation. After the German IdentityCamp in Bremen in 2008 there
were some attempts to start a local chapter in Germany but there was
no driving force behind that from either side.

Snorri had started "OpenID '09" where he wanted to bring OpenID to a
"point of no return" (as he indicated) but I haven't seen any activity
on that; I messaged him recently (the same day where Henrik Biering
send the mail to the list) and didn't get any reply. It seems he has
left the Internet business and is working in some VIP event agency
("Le Week-End").

If you're planning to reorganize OpenID Europe I'm willing to give my
input and feedback but I won't be able to put much effort in it from
my end and, as per my current geographic location, I may not be the
best person for that anyway. I have no issues wearing that badge of
the German OpenID representative but I will happily resign if someone
else will take over.

Regards,
 Lukas Rosenstock

> @All OpenID Europe:
> Who want's to be an 'active' part of OpenID Europe? Please answer directly to me in order that I can convert the feedback in a coordinated proposal to OIDF. Please also include what kind of responsibility 'activity' you propose to take care of.  Activities could for example be:
> - Organizing face-to-face meetings 1-2 times a year
> - Writing articles to be published to summarize what's going on related to OpenID in Europe. We should aim to have at least one headline a month.
> - and so on... suggestions welcome.

> @Current OpenID Representatives of the various countries:
> - Please drop me an e-mail with your contact address and state whether or not you are still interested to be a OpenID representative of the corresponding country. Please assure that I get the e-mail by end of 2009. I will then assemble a list of current OpenID contact people in Europe. If you are currently not a representative of a country but what to be a contact person for a country, please also drop me a short message.
