For those of you attending the Burton Group Catalyst 2010, please find below
a quick summary of OpenID related topics.

Many individuals, corporate members and directors from the OpenID Foundation
have volunteered substantial time to the Open Identity for Business Interop
event at this year's North American Catalyst Conference. OIDF members CA
and Ping Identity are sponsoring the interop and other events at the
conference in San Diego the week of July 27-31. Much thanks in advance to
OIDF directors Pam Dingle and John Bradley for providing leadership to the
planning and technical teams. The interop will be held on the evening of the
28th.

One of the conferences themes is "Identity comes of age." Gartner/Burton's
Bob Blakley has noted; "in 2010 and enterprises have new choices when it
comes to working with the identities of their partners, citizens, suppliers,
and customers - choices that can reduce the cost of these relationship while
increasing trust and creating new business opportunities. To support the
scale and complexities of these choices, the breadth and depth of technology
providers' collaboration has expanded."

This is a substantive example of progress following the OIDF Board's new
mission statement calling for broader technical collaboration with other
organizations. In this event, members of the OpenID Foundation, the
Information Card Foundation, the Open Identity Exchange, Kantara Initiative
and Identity Commons will demonstrate enterprise uses of open identity as a
business-enabler. This interop will showcase: practical applications of the
work of the US Identity, Credential and Access Management (ICAM)
Subcommittee, National Institutes of Health, and their partners. The
demonstrations will show examples of using OpenID, Information Card, and
SAML identities at different levels of assurance across multiple sites.
Illustrations of how open identity is moving to mobile devices and enabling
new types of mobile apps will be available as well as new browser-based apps
that use identity services to automate cross-site user experiences.

Several OIDF board members have indicated an interest in an informal get
together. As Nat Sakimura suggests below please let us know if you're
planning to attend.

After much thinking, I have decided to go to Burton Catalyst instead
of IETF at Maastricht.

Is there any other board member attending it? (I know John B. is.)

Best,
