Hi David,

The decision won't be made in private, but the board needs to make it with the input that has been provided so far.  I'm copying the board here to make sure that they have the benefit of your feedback below.  My only intention was to follow up on the input from many on the list who said we needed to move the discussion off the list since it was consuming a disproportionate share of attention, when there are many other things we can and should be focusing on.  If we could only tap as much energy and enthusiasm as this topic has engendered to help drive adoption and usage of OpenID, we'd all be much better off.  Feel free to use the open-board list to share any additional thoughts you have in advance of our meeting on Wednesday.

Thanks for stepping in here, but I must say that I feel your message below is inappropriate.  The issue of of how one should act on an OIDF list, especially when it concerns activity that may or may not get somebody banned and/or removed from the OID community, is not a decision that should be left to the board to make in private (even *if* you are going to take into account emails sent directly to you and the board).

The OpenID community was, in large part, built on these lists, *in public*, and this discussion topic deserves a fair and *open* debate, IMHO.  My apologies if I've mis-construed your email below, but instead of an open debate about, and public consideration of, this issue -- it appears list members have been muzzled from discussing this issue publicly(?), and at the request of the Board Chair, no less!!

I feel very strongly about this issue, and would appreciate the opportunity to continue discussing this issue in public with my fellow list members -- they have many good points, and so do I (plus I feel like some sort of consensus was beginning to emerge).  Have I misconstrued something here?  Is there some good reason not to allow us to discuss this issue in public?
