When this is (hopefully) approved by the membership I'd be glad to have us write a post targeted at a general audience, talking about benefits of the spec, that the spec process is working, etc.

Yes, I don't disagree with posting on the OpenID blog, just am
disappointed that the time wasn't taken to write a blog post that
would have the appeal of the blog's readership.
